New Toy and a Piece of Me in August 2010

In true Diana fashion, I bought myself a gift for my birthday. =)

A little back story...it occurred to me a few weeks ago that it'd be really fun to have a "polaroid" camera. I was hanging out at Starbucks with a good friend who I hadn't seen in a while (we spent 12 hours together just happily chatting away! we've been friends for 11 years), and of course I wanted to have a picture of us, but it felt a bit out of place to pull out my digital camera as the coffee shop was closing. (Do you know what I mean? Or I am the only one who sometimes feels shy and awkward?) Anyways, I just thought it would have been perfect to have a "polaroid" camera, something not too serious and yet also we'd get a great one-of-a-kind "remember when?" picture to cherish for years to come. =) (Plus I like the washed out colors that give it even more of the old school/back-in-the-day/retro look, hehe.)

Okay enough rambling...after a quick search online, I decided I reallllllly wanted this:

Fujifilm Instax Mini 25 Pink

BUT...I didn't get it, haha, because I couldn't find it. =( It turns out the pink one is available only in Korea (the pink 25, not the pink 7s). Other colors available in Korea only are blue and orange (I think orange is quite cute, especially for summer...but in the long run/year-round, I'd rather have the pink one).

So I looked around some more and also saw this:

Fujifilm Instax Mini 7s Hello Kitty

Um....cute much?! But...also...available in Korea only! haha Well I found quite a few online (on Gmarket) but I wanted the 25 and not the 7s (there's also a Hello Kitty Japan edition but it's white and red and I don't like red). So...I gave up, haha, because I really wanted to have the camera in time for my birthday. =) This is what I got:

Fujifilm Instax Mini 25 White
haha you can see the reflection of me taking a picture of it in the mini mirror. =P

The 25 has a few differences than the 7s, one of them being the mini mirror in front for self portraits. It's also smaller and lighter. Here's a chart I found online of their differences.

Overall, I'm quite happy with my new toy! I can't wait to put it to good use. Although...I have to admit, if I was rich, I'd totally still buy the pink 25 if I could, even though I know I don't need 2 Instax Mini cameras! =P

P.S. A special thanks to Mona and Kay for helping me while I was researching the Fujifilm Instax Mini! *hugs* I talked about it for at least two weeks before getting it, hehe.

And...I know I'm late by a day (can't believe it's already August! Feels like summer just started and now it's almost over), but here's my "A Piece of Me" for Notes from the Toothfairy.

This month....

I like: that not only are beauty babes good for beauty and shop talk (*ahem* enablers!)...but I've found that some also like k dramas too!! It's so nice to openly talk about something I'm interested in with others. Love my girls!! ♥

I don't like: that I often seem to split myself into different directions and interests...so hard for me to just focus and invest in just ONE. But I'm going to start with one (or two) and apply myself and follow through.

I want you to know: that I spoil myself from time to time because...well, I enjoy it, haha, and if I don't do it, who will? ;) But I also believe in having balance and some moderation. What I mean is, I like to enjoy nice things (and I enjoy being generous with others too) but I don't do it all the time. Keeping a balance is not easy but it is something I want to maintain.

I've planned: to take the next level Korean class which starts at the end of this month! And also to read 2 really thick books that I bought to improve at work...so I'm going to be pretty busy. I like being busy though...it keeps me from spending. =)

I want to say to someone special: Hmm...I wouldn't necessarily say that you're "special," but I've been wondering how you're doing and if I'm going to see you again soon...it's been so long (the years flew by so quickly) but you're still on my mind from time to time. Maybe we're just not meant to be friends but I truly hope you're doing well and are happy.

Lastly...a little bit of vanity, hehe, but I had to take a picture with my new toy, right?? Taken on my actual birthday. =) (It already looks like a vintage photo even though it was just a week ago, hehe.)

Ummm enough about me! How's your week going?

  7. Your new toy looks super duper cute! My uncle gave me his very old polaroid camera which uses the square-ish films but I can't find them so I haven't been able to use it lol
I'd totally get it if I wasn't so camera shy :P

  8. great purchase! I definitely love the old polaroid cameras, but these are much easier to tote around :) this reminds me that I need to take my 35mm camera with me when I go out more, to snap up random photos!
