Hey everyone! Happy October!
Here is the latest GLOSSYBOX beauty box subscription for the US. Yes, I know it is last month's box but as some of you may know by now, the boxes come at the end of the month, and if any month you should decide to subscribe, you actually subscribe to the next month's box and not the current. I hope that makes sense! (So what I mean is, even though today is October 1st, if you decided to subscribe now then you'd actually be signing up for November's box.)
September's theme was Fall Forward. I think it's a great theme as I keep seeing all of the fall trends and fashions etc. even though it still doesn't really feel like fall here during the day (our weather is still in the high 90s!).
Each month's box comes with a list of the products inside and include pricing for their full sizes.
Here's what was inside my box! You can see that it's well worth the $22 monthly subscription price.
GKHAIR Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner. Nourished with plant extracts, this superior smoothing shampoo will purify and moisturize the scalp and hair. This gentle, moisturizing conditioner puts the finishing touch on your tresses and leaves your hair smooth, radiant, and revitalized.
Hmm actually the set I received says "Balancing," not "Moisturizing," but I'm still happy that I can use it. I like that this time GLOSSYBOX choose a formula that can be used by most hair types.
KOH GEN DO Cleansing Spa Water. Made with mineral-rich Japanese hot spring water, this best-selling spa water is infused with six essential herbs to protect and nurture skin. In a single sweep, it gently removes makeup and skin's toughest impurities.
Ohh, this was such a pleasant surprise in my box! I'd just seen a big ad for this brand at Sephora the other day. I'm not yet familiar with this brand but I like that it contains "no artificial colors, fragrance or petroleum-based mineral oil."
MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42. Hailing from Korea, this Blemish Balm, also known as BB Cream is a multi-tasking powerhouse for the face. This multi-use cream provides light coverage, soothes, protects, and moisturizes. Suitable for all skin types.
I thought it was really cool that GLOSSYBOX included a full-sized BB cream from a Korean/Asian brand, especially since I have noticed that quite a few people either wonder what's the difference between BB cream and tinted moisturizer or say that the western brands don't compare to Asian brands. This will really introduce the brand and Asian BB creams to a more mainstream public.
KRYOLAN FOR GLOSSYBOX Moisture Rich Lipstick in GLOSSY Pink. Treat your lips to a creamy, long-lasting lipstick enriched with Vitamin E to stimulate and hydrate your lips. This perfect pop of GLOSSY pink compliments all skin tones and lifestyles.
Yes, finally a lip color that I actually like and can/would wear! I am no stranger to pink lipsticks but somehow, I can't seem to ever really have enough. ;)
I think GLOSSYBOX has been steadily improving since their first US premiere. I really liked the full and large sizes of this month's products (no dinky little samples!). I also really like that they incorporate brands from other countries, which gives the box a nice, global feel. I'm definitely looking forward to using everything in my box!
On another note, I tried swatching the ELF blushers from my last post, which I do really like for the cheap prices (but bear in mine, they are cheap because they do contain ingredients like talc and "paraffinum liquidum" (mineral oil), which some people may not like or even experience break out from). However, I wasn't too happy with my pictures though so I'm just going to have to scrap that since I have so many other posts I want to get to this month (or else I won't get to it for a bit). I'm sure you can find plenty of quality swatches online or else just take a chance and spend $3. =)
Glossybox ftw! It keeps getting better and better. Oh how I wish you'd land in Malaysia haha~
ReplyDeleteI saw this on another blog and I thought that whoever got this September box is lucky as the BB cream is inside! :)))
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff!
It is soooo unfair how great the Glossybox is in the US. Seriously, the German Glossybox sucks like hell, we only have cheap super tiny samples of some garbage inside and are paying 15$ while you are getting brands where a single product costs like 30$ in real life, that makes me super upset -.- Idk why the Glossybox sucks so much in Germany :/ I want the BB cream! Wanted to try while in Japan but it was too expensive..
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the BB cream! I have Missha but I have it in the lighter shade. I've always been curious to see how 31 would be on my skintone! :)
ReplyDeletei really like the color of the lipstick!
ReplyDeletei would love to see this on you. ;)
omg you got #31 for missha! i got the lightest shade :(
ReplyDeleteThis was the second Glossybox I've seen that made me jealous, but then I see so many bloggers who get a shade of product they can't use (wrong color) and then I remember why I keep ignoring Glossybox. They literally throw crap in a box. I mean, it's sorta wasteful to get excited about a product only to not be able to use it. If only they did a little more customizing!
ReplyDeleteThat said, I love the Missha perfect cover BB cream (I have 21, but 13 works for me too), it's one of the best color matches for me, and the coverage is just right (especially if you're used to western foundation coverage but want a more natural look). I know Missha isn't super popular in Korea but it's getting more popular in the west and I think it's because they're getting their products to us more than other companies, but also their BB cream coverage suits western expectations better than some other BB's. What do you think?
They sent you #13? A lot of bloggers got shades they can't use, you could always consider trading with them!
ReplyDeletenice box! i have yet to try glossy box yet, so far i still have birchbox and just recently got the ipsy box to try
ReplyDeleteAww maybe it will some day? It hasn't been in the US for a year yet, so maybe after that! =)
ReplyDeleteI wanted it for the BB cream too! hehe =)
ReplyDeleteAw, I'm so sorry to hear that! I'd thought you'd get nice, European brands or items made in Germany and other Euro countries. =| Hmm this BB cream is not bad but it does have mineral oil in it. Did you try any Japanese brands for BB cream while you were there?
ReplyDeleteYou mean #27? I have #27, which sometimes matches me but sometimes doesn't, so I was kind of hoping to get #23 so I could try a lighter color or even mix them together, hehe. I've heard #31 is good for medium-tanned skin tones.
ReplyDeleteOhhh the funny thing is...I haven't tried it yet, LOL. Will do! =)
ReplyDeleteAww what shade were you hoping to get? Do you have any other bb creams? Maybe you can mix it if you can't trade.
ReplyDeleteI do wish for more customization. I wasn't sure if that was just me being too picky compared to the general population. =X
ReplyDeleteI do think Glossybox is improving though and hopef that each box gets better and better, and maybe they'll somehow incorporate a little customization with subscribers' profiles in the future.
Hmm Missha may not be the most popular brand in Korea, but they're pretty popular for their BB cream and their skincare isn't bad either. I agree that Missha does a really good job at reaching American audience! I actually have this same BB cream in #27, and got it during one of their great promotions where it was free and I only had to pay about $8-9 for shipping. Talk about a steal! The only thing is that I would like to try one of their oil-free BB creams, but those don't have as many colors as the Perfect Cover so I don't think I'd be able to find my match.
Other than that, I'm glad to see them in Glossybox so that more people will be aware of them, and maybe if more Americans know what an Asian BB cream is like, then maybe the western companies here will make better BB creams for our market (instead of what people complain are basically repackaged tinted moisturizers). (I mean, Maybelline has quite a few BB creams in Asian markets but it sounds like they use a different formula for ours.) At least, that's my hope! =)
Ohh I hadn't heard of Ipsy! I'll have to stalk your blog for it, hehe.
ReplyDeleteYou're not too picky, you're the right amount of picky (: I mean, it's not wrong to want to have products that match your skin, right?
ReplyDeleteI love the Missha promotions! (Like you, I got a fullsize BB back during that promo!)
I was so glad Glossy had Korean products, and reading about that on blogs is what started putting them totally on my radar. The month before the Missha BB they had a face primer from a Korean brand and that was like WHA!?! I was thrilled and a little jelly of GB subscribers (:
Like you said, I too would be SO HAPPY if things like Glossybox made the west more aware of how good a lot of these products from Asia are, and in many cases how different they are from what the west makes. Part of the reason I started blogging beauty was to get people curious about Asian products, so it's good that they're finally making it to us.
I also hope western BBs start to improve, or at the very least stop calling themselves BBs (one of the two, lol). Right now it seems like they don't care much about making an HQ product but just riding the trend like a gimmick. I'm even seeing the "CC" cream as a "NEW" trend (what BS, lol, CC's are just BB's with more coverage; further, based on what I've seen so far I doubt any western product is anything like a BB or a CC yet). But, yeah, ideally, all the companies would make better products for us to enjoy, of course! ^_^
Thanks for your awesome reply!
I have 23, and I feel like it's too white on my skin. I didn't know they had 27! I need to check that out! Thanks for the heads up! :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! I think #27 came out either last year or maybe the end of the year before. It's called "Honey Beige." =)
ReplyDeleteI like the box, it looks so sweet with the ribbon inside <3
