I copied a Sephora-inspired makeup brush holder and made one for myself and also my sister. The vases were $4 at Michaels and the mini gems were $3 at Walmart. You can probably get them even cheaper at a thrift store or 99 cent store.
My little Vietnamese dolls and Unazukin wanted to be in the picture too. And so of course new makeup brush holder means new brushes...right?? ;)
My sister stumbled upon these EcoTools™ brushes earlier this week and I was totally jocking them (yes, jocking, very 1990s of me). They are sooo adorable. I love them because they're "earth-friendly beauty." They're made of bamboo so they have a nice brown, cream and bamboo wood color scheme. They are also cheap but of great quality...and the brushes are sooooo soft!
♥ Bamboo handle has a low impact on the earth's resources as it is a highly sustainable plant.
♥ Synthetic Taklon bristles are 100% cruelty free.
♥ Sleek ferrule is made from recycled aluminum.
♥ Cosmetic brush roll is made from natural cotton and hemp.
♥ Reusable storage pouch.
And then I found out from Sarah that there's also a travel set and a retractable kabuki brush, so I googled and found them! Yes, I am now the proud owner and a**hole with more makeup brushes than necessary.
I will probably use my old brushes for traveling. Did you know that the shelf life of makeup brushes is unlimited so long as they are of good quality and kept clean? What can I say though..I thought these Eco Tool brushes were worth buying and trying, and maybe I'll influence others to buy them so that together we start going green and in beautiful style. After all...wouldn't it be nice if that became the standard?
It's brush and brush holder heaven -- damn woman!
